Mistakenly Reported as Deceased on Credit Report!
Hey everyone,
So, I was casually checking my credit score today, like I do every now and then. Everything seemed fine until I saw something - according to Equifax, I'm officially deceased! Yeah, you read that right. Apparently, I've kicked the bucket, and all my accounts have been closed. My credit score, which used to be a proud 800+, has now taken a nosedive to a big fat zero.
The weird part is, when I checked TransUnion, everything seemed normal. It's like they didn't get the memo that I'm supposedly pushing up daisies on Equifax.
Now, I'm not an expert on credit stuff, but I'm pretty sure being mistakenly reported as deceased on my credit report is a big deal (https://lenlawyers.com/my-credit-report-says-i-am-deceased/). I mean, how does one even go about fixing this mess? Will I need a miracle or just a lot of paperwork?
I'm freaking out a bit here. Has anyone else gone through something like this? If so, how big of a pain in the ass is it going to be to get this sorted out? And what do I need to do to bring myself back to financial life, according to Equifax at least?
